Acer Revo Spec - mattrgee - 2009-11-29 Hi all, I'm looking at replacing my old xbox+xbmc setup with some new hardware to take advantage of HD content and the Aeon skin. So far, the Acer Revo appears a worthy candidate however I'm unsure which version is required to support 1080p playback. Single core (230) or dual core (330)? RAM requirements? CPU speed? GPU? I don't want to spend £300 on an all singing all dancing dual core, 4GB system if it's unnecessary. Thanks. - lefty420 - 2009-11-30 Single core cpu and 2gb of ram plays 1080p amazingly I paid around £170 for my revo from ebuyer if that helps. - gabbott - 2009-11-30 I'm using the single core Revo with 2gig ram and no issues with 1080p content running xbmc live - prae5 - 2009-11-30 Single core revo is all that is needed and the 1gb version is fine. That being said, you can pick up the dual core version for about £150ish now if you do some hunting around. - mattrgee - 2009-11-30 Thanks guys! - BananasQ - 2009-11-30 And this one would be fine: http://www.amazon.com/Acer-AspireRevo-AR1600-U910H-Desktop-Windows/dp/B002O3W44Q/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1259607877&sr=8-4 The fact that it is the NVidia ION LE wouldnt affect XBMC on it would it? - gabbott - 2009-11-30 BananasQ Wrote:And this one would be fine: It'll be fine. Thats the model I use. - i*windows - 2009-12-01 hi, you can get a dual core acer 3601 with 1GB RAM and 160GB HDD for £160. http://www.ballicom.co.uk/laptops/sub-notebook/acer-revo-3610-atom-330-dual-core-1gb-160gb-linux.p466112.html I dont suppose they will be round for long. - BananasQ - 2009-12-02 i*windows Wrote:hi, you can get a dual core acer 3601 with 1GB RAM and 160GB HDD for £160. http://www.ballicom.co.uk/laptops/sub-notebook/acer-revo-3610-atom-330-dual-core-1gb-160gb-linux.p466112.html Nuts - was going to pull the trigger on this yesterday, but they are all sold out.
