i have both xbmp2.4 and xbmc(somewhere around 12-03).
i have both set up for smb and xns.
on xbmp, when i use either and browse into a folder of 100 songs or so, it takes about a second or so.
however, with xbmc, it takes forever (on the order of a minute+). i originally thought that it was a configuation problem but it happens under all 3 protocols and all 3 protocols work fine with xbmp. is there something in a xbmc xml file that i am missing? i am basically using the stock xml file with just the network paths for each protocol supplied. it can't possibly be this slow.
i have searched around on here and xbox-scene and have had no luck finding a solution so far. maybe i am just not looking for the right thing.

is it slow when id3 tag reading is disabled in the music settings?
