hello,
i've been put off xbmc the past few releases due to this problem.
when i try calibrating the screen if i go beyond a certain point towards the top of the screen (which i need to for it to be full screen) the picture will start becoming divided. what i mean is that it looks like many many black lines are being drawn across the screen. it happens in some games such as midtown madness 3 however as xbmp didn't do it i'm assuming it can be fixed. i also cannot even stretch the image to the top of the screen. it only goes to about an inch less. i'm thinking as i write that it may be pal-60 issues as i read xbmp does not output to pal-60, so i'll have a look and post again in a few minutes.

edit: well you learn something everyday. it seems my tv doesn't support pal-60. should'v known though. it is from about 1993 or earlier. oh well. forget this post.
