Automating folder creation for movies? - gaiko - 2010-05-21

Hi, I am trying to make my collection as scraper (and xbmc) friendly as possible and that seems to mean that each movie needs to have its own folder (for art, nfo file etc). I have two questions regarding this:
#1) Is there a program or perhaps a fancy batch file out there that can go through folders/sub-folders find video files and then make folders based on the video file names
#2) For these folders, do the scrapers (xbmc or sup tools) generally do ok if the movie dates (eg "Avatar (2010)" are appended?

Any help suggestions would really be appreciated as i would prefer not to have to do all this manually.

Cheers,

-Gaiko

Hello,
XBNE can do this manually or automatically on multiple files.

EMM should also be able to do it I think.

For movies there is normally no need to have them in separate folders. (even if it makes things much cleaner).

If you set content of your movies folder and specify use foldername for name, it will still not use that for any movies found in the folder you set content on (it will use filename there), but for subfolder it will

So you can mix and match for that situation.

For tvshows it's different thou, there you must have folders for each show.

try theThe renamer it's not perfect but does a decent job of creating folders and moving files to these folders
