[Web Interface Addon] iRemote for XBMC - simple Web (HTTP) remote for mobile devices - Ishiro - 2011-01-01 Hello, I've started to work on another remote to control XBMC from mobile device, iPhone mainly. The first version was launched on August, to fit my personnal needs. I've updated the remote in December to : - add a support with dharma add-ons - support gestures (but you can still use the basic controller). Just made this for fun to explore HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript on Safari Mobile. With this simple iPhone webapp, I've tried to obtain something nearest to the iPhone native app look'n'feel. I assume this app could work on other mobile devices. Let me know... So, I need some feedback about my work, and if some people like it, I'll try to submit it to the official XBMC add on repository. Also I know this web app is near from wTouch which is a nice web app too. But ux and some features are differents. The gesture source code from wTouch helped me to build iRemote, therefore I'd like to thank wTouch and his author. Project repository : https://github.com/Ishiro/iRemote-for-XBMC (where you can download and get the install instructions). Here are some screenshots : Thanks ! Edit: "I assume this app could work on other mobile devices. Let me know..." -> Not sure at all, because the app detect if it's opened into Safari or launched from the springboard. In the first case, it asks to add the icon on the springboard... - Ishiro - 2011-01-01 ... - mstrkrft - 2011-01-02 Excellent addon, thanks very much. I'm not a fan of the bulkier iphone remote applications so this remote is nearly perfect for my needs. Is there any chance the non-gesture profile could get a context menu button? Having to shuffle between screens for that button can get tiresome. Take care and tymuch - Ishiro - 2011-01-02 mstrkrft Wrote:Excellent addon, thanks very much. About the context menu button, yes, I'll try to do something asap. - Ishiro - 2011-01-08 mstrkrft Wrote:Is there any chance the non-gesture profile could get a context menu button? I've just released the 0.3.1 version that add the OSD button to access the context menu. Available on https://github.com/Ishiro/iRemote-for-XBMC - Ishiro - 2011-02-13 Hi, 0.3.2 is out on GitHub. It should work on Android now (tested with the sdk emulator). Basically, it should work on mobile browsers which support CSS3. Feedback appreciated. - Livin - 2011-03-03 Ishiro, 2 questions... 1) Are you going to make this a formal Add-On and available via the XBMC repository? 2) Are you planning to add other screens/features? I'd love to see buttons to directly access specific things like... direct Sources menu items: TV Shows, Movies, etc subtitles on/off etc - Ishiro - 2011-03-05 Livin Wrote:Ishiro, 1 - Yep, I've submitted iRemote to the addon repository. I'm waiting for validation. 2 - At the moment I'm quite busy, and no time to add new features... And, I'm waiting for the validation. If iRemote is accepted on the official repo, I'll add new features. In the first time, I want to get more feedback on the actual version and fix bugs. After that, I'll probably work on new features. Else, if iRemote is rejected, I don't think I'll add other features, or just to fit my personnal needs. I appreciate your ideas. I'm not sure to understand the meaning of "direct sources", can you give me more details ? - Livin - 2011-03-05 my meaning by 'direct sources' are what the user added as a source - stored in sources.xml I have sources like "New Videos", "Kids Videos", etc that would but nice to have buttons on your remote to take me (and guest users - like baby sitters) there directly. I did this for the home screen on Alaska and it is very nice for quick and easy access for people who don't know the structure of XBMC. thx for the great work, I'm sure it will be approved and I look forward to using it ans seeing it grow - Mrkennedy - 2011-03-05 Cannot get this to download at all, is this anywhere else? - Ishiro - 2011-03-06 Mrkennedy Wrote:Cannot get this to download at all, is this anywhere else? Hum... If you go to https://github.com/Ishiro/iRemote-for-XBMC and click on "downloads", what happens ? Also, you can try this link : https://github.com/Ishiro/iRemote-for-XBMC/zipball/master Let me know. - el_cabong - 2011-06-24 Awesome work thus far. Do you have any plans for integrating volume control in this? - Ishiro - 2011-07-14 el_cabong Wrote:Awesome work thus far. Thanks ! Actually, I have no time to add new features. Let's see at the end of the summer... I use this remote, so I'll do some updates in the next months. - LawrenceZA - 2011-11-02 This looks great and like exactly what I've been looking for to use on my HTPC. Will this work from a browser instead of using an Apple device? - wiero - 2011-11-18 Is it possible to change touch sensitivity in gesture mode? It's way to fast for me to be comfortable |
