read, search google, read, search the forums at xbox-scene.com, read, search the forums at the maker of your mod chip, read, google, read. rinse and repeat for about 2 months, and you should be good. everyone here just read and taught themselves; getting hand held thru it wont help you, youll forget the process and then need the same hand holding again. you cant break anything that cant be fixed, that its unless you drop the xbox out of a 10 story building.
so....get the idea? read.

man i'm doing it all, i'm searching and reading. it's hard when u aren't getting anywhere due to lack of understanding to half the things mentioned in the tutorials. i'm absolutely limited to audio software, i barely have ever used anything besides audio software on my p.c. so i guess i'm fresh outta luck in that regard. i'd still like someone to help, i'm not asking for much. just someone willing to explain basic functions and set ups.

heres a basic setup:
xbox-fun machine
modchip-makes the xbox a morefunner machine
xbmc-is an app or a dash, you can use it as either. its for your media collection mainly.
kai-free online service, must go to teamxlink.co.uk to get an xtag and password. you run the kai on a pc on your network and you run xbmc as a frontend to that. must get it from teamxling.co.uk. many many many many posts there about setting it all up.
how do you use it:
start the kai software on the pc. make sure it logs in. start the xbox, start xbmc, go to settings, my programs, enter in the info asked for (where it says ip, give it the ip of the pc running kai.) reboot, go to my programs from main menu, hit kai. if it dont work you didnt do something right. see first post.
