Glad I can make you laugh lol, but I'm dead serious and I stick by what I said.
It's all preference for sure, but I can tell you while I was working at a movie rental store that A and An is JUST as prevalent as THE. Again, it's all preference, but if you saw how many A and An titled movies are literally out there you would be on our side! 
Now, that was 12 years ago.....sure the As and Ans have increased since then

The most intuitive would be to enable the user to define the list in the gui or have a choice between or a custom list (which defaults to all accepted English or international articles.

I did think of that but wasn't sure if it was possible as I've only seen keyboard dialogs entries used for single values.
