Hi everyone,

Im new to all of this so bear with me if this is simple to fix....
My brother recently bought a Raspberry Pi and installed XBMC ver12 alpha 3 on it to use it as a HTPC

Installed fine, but the problem comes when we actually go to use it, he changed all the settings to suit the tv and all sorts, started playing some videos and it frequently locks up and crashes completely. When the system reboots all the settings he set have reverted back to original settings and using remote apps on android frequently lead to it crashing.

Any help for a complete newbie?

Its running off a 8GB SD card if that helps.....

Its not a final release, so crashes are expected. I dont have one myself, but alpha means there are going to be crashes/bugs here and there.

What distribution are you using? Are there any overclock settings in config.txt?
Does it crash when playing video, or just in the UI?

Unplug everything. Make sure power is >700ma. Try another sd card. I've been using for a coupe of weeks and it's rock solid on core functionality
