Android XBMX suddenly crashes completely
#1
Hello,
I've purchased an Android set-top box in Israel. and though I was told it was Android 4.0.3, it turned out to be Android 2.3.
The seller told me he's waiting for an update file.

Regarding XBMC I installed it and it worked somewhat properly, though every time I opened it (about 8-10 times) to learn how to use XBMC it was saying it's opening for the time.
After I downloaded the NAVIX plugin files to the box, XBMC just started crashing - once it's finished loading it closes. I tried this numerous times.
I also tried removing XBMC and re installing.
I'm really frustrated. Any suggestions?

This is the Android box: http://gjdvd.en.alibaba.com/product/5949...ional.html
Thanks,

I guess I was. Is here no way to upgrade from 2.3 to 4.0?

Also, will XBMC will not be able to work properly on 2.3?

I've read this prior to installing of course.
I've come to ask here on the forum in order to get knowledge about "working-knowledge" and not just FAQ info.

It probably can be updated to Android 4.0 and higher. I wouldn't expect the seller to give you very good support, though. With these Android boxes there can be one kind of box sold under several different names, and several different boxes sold under the same name. Even the external enclosure can be identical to another box, but have different insides and need different firmware. That being said, don't give up hope just yet.

I don't know what the quality of the device is, but the raw specs seem to indicate hope. I would ask over at http://forum.xda-developers.com and see if anyone there might know of a firmware that is already available that you can try out.
