I'm using Asus Transformer TF300T with XBMC 12.

I've just try playing a 1080 MKV but it's not smooth and frame rate is about 12 images/sec.

The same video play fine with MXPlayer.

I didn' find any video option in XBMC to use hardware decoder.

Do I have to use MXplayer as an external player ?

Try the libstagefright build which has experimental hardware decoding.

Alternatively, there are unofficial builds of xbmc that will use an external player. google: xbmc android user friendly.
Note that these builds don't work with smb shares. smb shares are used when you connect using android to files on a windows pc.
