Not all android boxes have the correct hardware, so which did you buy? And which Xbmc version did you download and install?

I wonder why people buy something without even investigating first.

Well to be honest mate as I got XBMC running on my PC without any problems, and on my Samsung Galaxy tablet, I thought being an android box it would work, I'm going to send it back and get a different box.
Unfortunately, Android is a whole other monster when it comes to hardware video decoding. Early on, Google didn't set out to standardize an API for hardware video decoding, so just about every chip manufacturer just kind of did their own thing. It's slowly getting better, and our own efforts to providing "universal support" is coming along, but it's still quite a mess out in Android world. At least for open source programs. Closed source programs have a bit more flexibility and can sign agreements with the various chip makers, but such agreements are normally not compatible with open source, a requirement for XBMC.
