Working great, but what skin?
#1
After following this since KrustyReturns first talked about it I finally had a chance this weekend to get a system setup properly with it. I installed the newest server build and set it up as a Service on my Win7 server.

I then installed the latest OpenElec Gotham development build on an Intel Celeron 847 NUC with the client from the XBMC repository. Once I configured the server IP address everything worked perfectly. The only niggles so far are around skins not working that well with PVR functionality.

I had previously been using the Arctic skin but this did not seem to display the media highlights as I think it was designed for Frodo. I experimented with a number of other skins but couldn't really find one that I liked the look of and also worked well with the PVR functionality. In the end I went back to Confluence as the best compromise.

Can anyone suggest a good looking skin that makes the most of fanart that also works well with WMC backend PVR and can be used on Gotham please?

Thanks.

Gotham is still alpha and most skins have bugs… stay with 12.3 and use Xperience1080 e.g. In my opinion it has the best looking PVR section of all skins.

Didn't noticed MediaBrowser is getting standalone with TV server integration… nice!

I'm having some problems with skins and WMC PVR Backend as well.

On the same PC that I have WMC Backend running all skins display channel icons fine.

On other clients that are using WMC backend through the network certain skins will not display channel icons.

Arctic, Xperience1080, and Xperience1080++ all will not display icons with WMC PVR backend. However, they all display icons from NPVR backend.

Confluence is the only skin that will display channel icons from WMC PVR backend across the network.

That's news to me, I can't think of any reason why confluence would show the icons and other skins not.

If you can't find a solution, you can install the icons folder on your remote machine and point xbmc at the folder. Just make sure the images have the same name as the channels.

That doesn't work either, which makes me think this is more of a skin issue. I posted the bug in the skin forum. We'll see if we can get to the bottom of it.

Have you tried Aeon Nox?

It's still a WIP for Gotham but progressing rapidly.

I got all of my skins working. Basically I had to downgrade to Frodo, load WMC 1.9.3 and all of the icons displayed properly in all skins. Then when I upgraded to Gotham, all icons worked in all skins. Strange. Just letting you know in case anyone has the same issue.
