mythtv's traditional support channel has been a mailing list (mythtv-user) with other mailing lists for development etc. However that can be quite daunting for newbies, as it is a high volume list and can crowd your inbox, particularly if you don't use any filtering into folders. Also different people prefer different support paradigms.

Now there is a new alternative, they have a forum at https://forum.mythtv.org/
