Latest stable build of KodiBuntu 14.04.1 LTS
Kodi 14.0 Git:ad747d9 (Compiled: Dec 23 2014)
I'm a linux newbie so please be patient.
I have mythbuntu running in KVM on Unraid. It connect flawlessly to Kodi on my Win7 media center PC. I'm considering running Kodibuntu as I really have no need for Windows on the TZs anymore. Since MS abandoned WMC I'm looking for a centralized TV server and Myth seems to be doing that well in a VM. My trouble is I don't know which repository or myth-pve add-on to tell Mythbuntu to install. Everything that I have found so far crashes Kodi and just returns me to the Ubuntu desktop.
Edited to add....At this time I have a clean Kodibuntu install at this time. Any sort of help would be appreciated.

Bring up the Ubuntu OS and start the Synaptic Package Manager from the System Tools. Do a search for MythTV, scroll down until you find kodi-mythtv-isengard and mark that and the -dbg for install. Bring up Kodi again and you'll find your addons include a PVR Client setting now.

Sorry, my mistake. I didn't see you were still on Helix. You want kodi-mythtv-helix.
Or use the Synaptic Package Manger to update your Kodi to 15 ...

Thank you so much! I updated to isengard and then added the myth pvr from the Synaptic Package Manager. Now to figure out how to backup these Linux machines...

Not like you're really asking for my opinion...but our set-ups seem pretty similar and I thought you might benefit from my "tribulations"....
I currently run Kodi (15.1) on a Xubuntu 14.04 front-end for my MythTV 0.27 back-end.
I had more than a little bit of trouble keeping things playing nice together but here are my recommendations: Upgrade to Kodi 15.x and get the MythTV add on from Janbar. Make sure you're running MythTV version .27 (.26 is inadequate and .28 still needs more work, etc.) This combination seems to work a bit better than Kodi 14 and the Myth PVR add-on from the Ubuntu repositories.
I also would recommend staying with Ubuntu 14.04...I had more problems and stability issues trying to upgrade to Ubuntu 14.10 and 15.04 but your mileage may vary, etc.

I just took an update to Kodi on the beta repository (ubuntu).
This broke all my kodi-mythtv-isengard stuff... is there a workaround
for running this on the new jarvis? Kodi 16.0 BETA1
thx -bruce.

I also updated Kodi 15.2 to 16.0 beta1 on the beta repository (ubuntu) and mythtv PVR is not working.
From the Kodi log I see this message:
ERROR: PVR - Add-on 'MythTV PVR Client' is using an incompatible API version. XBMC minimum API version = '4.1.0', add-on API version '1.9.6'
Is an update to mythtv PVR available?
I installed the PVR using the following:
sudo apt-get install kodi-pvr-mythtv
Thanks

The Ubuntu upgrade manager reported a new version of Kodi was available so I installed it (16.0 "Jarvis"). As I use the Myth Backend to manage my HDHomerun tuners, record tv programs, and capture Schedules Direct guide data, I was dismayed to see that the MythPVR addon was failing with "api version out of date" or some such. After looking further I realized the isengard addon was installed and it was incompatible. apt-get purge got rid of the old one and apt-get install the jarvis version of mythtv pvr did the trick.
