Question
Will enabling debugging (in settings) result in logs growing bigger and bigger over time?

I am trying to find the cause of Kodi sometimes freezing up while going through a daily updated list of silly videoclips, using a video-plugin of the site. Sometimes, when I open a video it results in a kodi-freeze-dead.
It seems random. Is it the codec, is it the plugin?
I want to enable 'component-specific logging' of video and audio in hope that somehow the cause is kind enough to be logged before Kodi freezes.

Will this log keep on growing and growing in case I forget to disable it or is it ok to keep it enabled?
Will I ever find the cause or should I await newer releases?

If I am doing this debugging the wrong way, I would appreciate your help Smile

Every time Kodi is (re)started, a new Kodi log will begin.
The previous log will be renamed to kodi.old.log .

If you are keeping Kodi 'alive' on your NVidia Shield, then the log could grow and grow.
One option is to disable the logging by using loglevel -1 in the advancedsettings.xml file, but that is not handy when troubleshooting for bugs.

You can also share the kodi.log file, if you want to have us look at it for any mishaps.

Thank you for the superfast response Smile

In this case I got myself wondering about an ever growing logfile, not knowing of the reset at reboot. I trust one restart after a freeze is allowed?
I like to be somewhat able to tackle errors myself before bothering busy experts. Is the way to aim for component logging for video and audio reasonable or would you also include other (url?) things.

EDIT: I managed getting a logfile I woud like to share but the program-plugin to upload the log seems to not upload the log I intended to share?

UPDATE: The fix was updating the youtube plugin (and maybe just changing the setting 'ask for videoquality' , as I did both at the same time).

The log helped but it took some tries (force close) to get it updated (after freeze) to show the recent stuff. It helped that I could reproduce booboo with a specific clip.
I was unable to share the log as using the build-in sharing option in the log viewer did not upload what it showed when just opening it. Choosing old logfile or even opening it in a filebrowser in AndroidTV only showed the boring one, to be expected as that was the one uploaded by the kodi log program also.

Thanks for the support and consider the topic resolved.
