Colors for BluRay picture based subtitles
#1
This may be obvious, but is there a way to DVD/BluRay/UHD picture based subtitles rendered in the color that is specified in the stream?

Some disks are mastered with multi-colored subtitles. E.g.: one color for music lyrics, another for dialogue, another for incidentals like translating signs, etc.  AnimEigo is big on this.  Using the same MKV file, this works fine with software players like MPV on the mac, but on my kodi machine everything is black-and-white.  I am running Kodi 17.6 on Vero 4k running OSMC release 2018.08-2.

Thanks.

Kodi already renders any subtitles in PGS subtitles.  However, having ripped my own AnimEigo 'Otaku No Video' disc, I think I know what your problem is: There are MULTIPLE subtitle streams, including a colored one and a multi-colored one.  I think you may have ripped with only the greyscale subtitles.  Re-rip with the additional subtitle tracks.

Ah, I'll take a look.  I tend to rip with all tracks, so I'll look for another English subtitle track.

Thanks!

I can take a look at my disc tonight if it helps but I clearly recall going 'What are ALL these sub tracksHuh' when using MakeMKV on my disc and figuring them all out to label then and omit them.  But I am sure that Kodi supports any colors rendered into PGS subtitles.  I remux a number of discs and will see a few colors even in fairly vanilla subtitle setups.  Or some shows will use white with black outline and other discs just use yellow.
