Release MUBI Add-on

I recently got into MUBI, a streaming service for a curated selection of films. I found a MUBI add-on for Kodi on GitHub, but the project seems abandoned (the latest update has been like 3 years ago).

So I spent the weekend reverse-engineering the MUBI Android app to update the API calls and implement DRM streaming playback and, to my own surprise, succeeded.

I have never programmed a Kodi add-on and I'm not much into python, but nevertheless wanted to share my work with the community, perhaps it makes somebody's day.

You can find my MUBI add-on on GitHub: https://github.com/flxapps/plugin.video.mubi

And (for convenience) a Kodi repository (so you could use the Git Browser add-on to install): https://github.com/flxapps/flxapps.kodi-repository

Have a good one,
Felix
Hi Felix, I am too looking for mubi support on kodi. Will you carry on trying to fix it? Seems like the bug is not a huge one.

Polish developer @mtr81 has written a new plugin for MUBI with support for logging and DRM. Everything works great. Link to the repository: https://github.com/mtr81/kodi_addons

Hello everyone,

I'm pleased to announce that I have updated my kodi plugin for Mubi: https://github.com/kubi2021/plugin.video.mubi

It's fresh and fully featured:
  1. 🎬 Fetches all movies available on Mubi, including full Mubi ratings and descriptions
  2. 👍 Compatible with the Kodi movie library
  3. 🛡️ Finds the corresponding movie on IMDb so Kodi scraper can fetch additional metadata
  4. 🍿 Play Mubi trailers directly within Kodi
  5. 📺 Movies are playable directly within Kodi, supporting subtitles and multiple audio streams out of the box using Kodi's features
  6. 🌐 If the movie can't be played within Kodi, the user is prompted to open it in their browser (tested on macOS only)
  7. 🈯 Supports display of titles and descriptions in the languages supported by Mubi
My approach is to sync Mubi movies to the library of Kodi. I prefer the navigation of Kodi, movies can be sorted by rating, etc.

Let me know what you think of it.

Thanks. I tried your add-on and it's working nicely, although I used it as an independent add-on instead of mixing their movies with mine. Maybe this is why I couldn't get anything displayed in Portuguese. But I went back to mtr81's add-on because of their search engine. So this would be a nice addition to yours. Unless it's already there and I missed it. But having the Watchlist is great.
Is there a way to access the Leaving Soon section? I couldn't find it. If not, I would like to suggest it. I have been adding the movies to my favorites, and it's annoying when there is a lot of movies leaving Mubi, like... now. lol
Also, is there a way to get the 5.1 audio? I know the other add-on can only play 2.0 and I don't know if playing Mubi's movies available in 5.1 is even possible in Windows.
