Can Kodi in DLNA mode cast or send audio to multiple networked audio renderers(audio)
#1
Can Kodi perhaps in DLNA mode or some network sharing mode
send audio or cast audio to multiple networked audio systems
like how AirFoil works or how iTunes works?

Kodi seems good for opening a computers port or network
to establish it as a renderer to receive audio cast to it from
an external device running apps like Neutron or BubbleUPNP.
The audio beamed to the computer or device running Kodi
accepts the audio and plays it .  What I do next is use
Airfoil with Kodi as a source or input and I select various other
networked audio devices/renderers and the audio sent to
Kodi wirelessly is then sent or distributed to the various other
audio devices that are networked (like AirTV Player running
Kodi or Yamaha R-N803 or Denon DRA-800H networked receivers,
or AudioCast or Chromecast devices, or a networked Sony TV).
Note those ors can be ands as Airfoil allows one to select or
deselect renderers or networked speaker systems.

I am hoping to use one application to both serve as a receiver
of the beamed audio and as a distributor to send the audio
to multiple speakers that are networked.
I was trying to use J River Media Center to do this but no one
there knows how to set this up or it may not be capable to
work like Airfoil or iTunes (sending audio to multiple devices).

I am hoping Kodi can do this and if not, maybe it can in the future
as Kodi is very versatile software that runs successfully on many
platforms (Windows, MacOS, Android, and maybe even on
FireTV devices?, Android devices such as SonyTV & AirTV Player by Sling).

Thank you.

In summary , can Kodi run like Airfoil to send audio to multiple networked
audio devices?

A DLNA server is just that whether it's Kodi or not. Assuming you have enough bandwidth and disk i/o you can pull from it to as many locations at the same time as you wish. It doesn't push anything. it just makes it accessible.

As far as playing from one location to another on the network I've done that with a remote pulseaudio server. But I don't know about send to multiple IPs at the same time. Depending on your plan might it be easier just run a wiring connecting all of these speakers to the same input location? Else if wireless have it play to the "TUNER" so to speak, then the wireless speakers can react to that?

I just looked at Airfoil. It has something about Airplay? I don't know what that is but if I recall there is an Airplay option inside of Kodi.

I'd suggest create your "server" in virtual box. then you can test all kinds of things to your hearts content. may even come up with something that isn't common else ever been done before. and you don't risk anything.
