Is there a fix or workaround for the following problem?

I have trouble with a lot of missed recordings. Normally if I find a new tv show that I want to record, I highlight the listing in the EPG and add a series recording, as shown in this image...


But then on the day of the scheduled recording, the EPG listing changes name, and the recording event is deleted...


Of course, I only notice this a day or two later when I look for the recording to watch. By then it is too late, and I have missed the first episode (or second or third).
I end up deleting the series recording and creating a keyword recording, which does capture the changed names in future, but I have already lost x number of episodes.

Is there anyway to ensure this does not happen in future. Its only after the recording is missed that I realise there is a problem.

I believe that NextPVR consider all items appearing in the guide are all 'New' items if my memory serves me right.
I'm pretty sure you can disable the new flag appearing on the backend server. Once done, it wont show in Kodi...

This looks like a problem for the NextPVR forum with NextPVR logs.  I think your EPG is adding crap to the EPG title so there is no longer an EPG match.  I don't know if sub can adjust to that unusual situation or not.  You might need to record La Brea with a wild card or use a time based recording.

Some guide data will distinguish between New and Repeats give you the ability to choose to only record new.  With less metadata NextPVR has to assume everything is new.  It is via the Settings->General Highlight 'new' shows tick box.

I use the OTA guide data, and I am pretty sure it is the networks that are modifying the title on the day to squeeze in some extra program information.

I don't know how the search in NextPVR works, but I was hoping a simple regex might fix it. Something like ignore \(.*?\).

I would have thought others may have complained about the same thing, but a quick search on NextPVR forum before posting found nothing.

Thanks, found the setting. I guess my EPG data does not have enough info to show actual "new" items only?

As I said post on the NextPVR forum.  I know for recurring recordings there is a setting   <RecurringMatch>Exact</RecurringMatch>  There is an other option for the start of the title but I don't know what it is exactly or if it is available in v5

Ok. But what exactly do you want the log to capture? The La Brea one I noticed before the recording time and the EPG update, so I was able to fix it, so I am guessing the log will probably show nothing?

I'll look at creating an account over at NextPVR.

Logs will show what the actual recording rule was that failed and other people that might have this problem can help.  Link back here for context.
