For music there exists simple software like MP3Tag and Tag&Renamer to add (ID3) tags, and also iTunes can do this for ALAC/M4A files. That way I can add/correct/change and rename the tags like year, artists, album title etc.....
Does software tools like this also exist for movies/videoç which include these tags INSIDE the movie files themself? Infact all I'd like to do is sort my private video's on year without using the year as start of it's title (because then I can't sort on alphabetically order). Can't find the right tools, even though I assume this must exist for MP4/AVI and alike.

I know that video container files like MKV can contain metadata, but AFAIK there is no standardized way of inserting movie details into a video file. Hence there is also no real support in Kodi for scraping videos using such metadata. The best option for private videos is to create .nfo files with all relevant information, and then scrape the videos into Kodi.

MediaMonkey.  Though I am not sure about mkv files.  But MP3Tag probably works as well.
