Log:  https://paste.kodi.tv/qasofuveyi.kodi

I thought I had beat this one but I haven't.  Now, some work and some do not.  I suspect that I need to download some stuff which I though I had all off (ubuntu restricted extras).  Now, some work, some do not work.  The strange thing is that they all work with Videos and VLC but not Kodi.

$  sudo lshw -c video

The log doesn't tell much why the video is failing. Could you provide a mediainfo for that file

Thank you for the response.

I have installed mediainfo and gui mediainfo.  I have read the help, etc. and am confused.  Would it be possible for you to send me a command to put in my terminal?  I messed with it a bit and decided to ask because I failed.

It's quite simple to place the output into a text file: mediainfo /path/to/videofile.ext > output.txt

Thank you for the reply.

mediainfo /path/to/videofile.ext > output.txt  I think this means to tell mediainfo to go someplace, get the data and send it to output.txt.  My problem is that I have no idea what "videofile.ext" really is.  I searched for such and failed.

What do you think the mediainfo tool is for? It's for getting details of (mostly) video files. "videofile.ext" is a dummy file example.
If you run a PC with Ubuntu, you should have some idea how a terminal session and its command line works..?

mediainfo myfirstvideo.mkv (or whatever your video filename is) should get you some result.

OK, got something.  Had to change a name to get media to take it.  Apologies for all the problems.

Here is what I got: https://paste.kodi.tv/acafalecip
