Problems with scrapers and Kodi v.20?
#1
Good day all!

Am I the only one who has a ton of problems with scrapers and Kodi v.20? I used to have about 10 movies the scrapers had difficulties to sort out but since I upgraded to Nexus, I have hundreds of movies that are no longer recognized!!! Those used to be ok with the same scraper in v.19.6!!! I tried different scrapers and always get the same results!

I also noticed in v.19.6 and all previous version, when Kodi was scanning a particular movie, it was first asking me if I wanted to use local or Internet info and when it could not find the movie, it was asking me if I wanted to manually search for the info…. Where is this now in v.20Huh The only thing I get now is « No information found! ».

Am I missing something?!??

Yes, a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

Just to make sure I fully understand...  Enabling the DEBUG mode is not a problem...  It is the next item that needs clarification...

When you ask to replicate the problem, do you want me to to a full rescan of my library (+1000 movies) to see why the Scraper is not picking up the movie or you want me to manually re-scan a folder that was not detected during the library update?

Furthermore, I don't know how to recreate the prompt I used to have to do the manual search when Kodi was not able to find the movie?!?  This was basically automatic in v.19.6.  Now, in v.20, it does not even gives me the option to do a manual search, UNLESS the movie was discovered previously and THEN, I want to re-scan the movie...

Start off with that one.
If for some reason, the movie is scanned when you do that, then do the whole library update. Then tell us a couple of the movies that were not scraped.

Ok, I enabled the DEBUG mode and went through the media library scan again and it created a 72MB file!!!

So instead of going through the hassle of trying to send the file on the Kodi Paste Site, I uninstalled Kodi, delete the Kodi folder on my Minix Neo Android Box and re-installed fresh...  Started Kodi which game me a blank Library...  Shut it down, copied my AdvancedSettings.xml, Passwords.xml and Sources.xml and restarted Kodi.  My SQL library was back again!  So I did go on a folder that was not yet recognized in the library, did a "Scan to library" and it recognized the movie right away!  I did a full rescan on my library and only 3 movies were not recognized!!!!!  From hundreds to 3 unrecognized movies, I can live with that!  Oooh, and now the prompt that was missing (manual scan) is now back!

Note to self: when weird issues occur, delete the upgrade and re-install fresh!  The install I just deleted has been upgrading since Kodi 16.x!

Thanks everyone for the help!

Yea. If that is the case, then I think you were using old, unsupported scrapers.
Probably best to install fresh with each new major update, so you don't have left over crud from older versions.

Well, after a long and teddious process, I learnt the hard way that when you see these kind of behaviors, uninstall, delete folders and start fresh!  It did solve my issues for sure!

Well, well, well, well...

How could I express my dismay in regards to the strange behaviour/relationship with Kodi and scrapers.  Like I said in my previous post, re-installing Kodi from scratch did solve my issue and was finally able to get all my movies back in the library with the exception of 3 movies (out of 1300+).

As everything was going well too good, I decided to change ISP for a much quicker Internet...  Normally this process is "almost" painless except this new ISP has restrictions on IP addresses...  So I had to reconfigure everything at home with the new range of IPs and once this was completed, Kodi was once again able to connect on my "networked" library except that when it was time to update the library, it would shows in the right-top corner "Preparing... 0% and then the little wheel would spin for ever...  I imagined it was a connection problem with the MariaDB on my NAS so I deleted and re-installed MariaDB and re-created everything I needed to connect again on the network.

Now, my Kodi can connect and update the database but, for some unknown freaking reasons, there are about 200 movies that are no longer recognized by the scraper!  This is the same mac computer running the same version of Kodi with nothing being changed in its configuration!  I did not change scraper or anything else and now, I have roughly 200 movies that even if I try to manually update them, they are simply not recognized at all...  I think this is becoming a love-hate relationship between Kodi, the scraper and myself...

Should I delete Kodi again (even if it was re-installed 2 days ago) and try again?  I have to admit that I'm a bit at loss right now.  And unless I can upload a 72MB log file somewhere, I'm not too sure proposing uploading the log will be a good solution (but I know it would help a lot in order to understand what's going on under the hood)...

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

That seems excessive.
Restart Kodi and run an Update library.
Upload the log.
Tell us which movies did not scrape.

I note that I previously asked for a log and never recieved one. So don't expect any feedback until the log is posted.
