Just wondering if there is a method using EDL of any type that can use chapter numbers instead of specific times or frames? I have a library of television shows ripped to my server. They are all chaptered as follows:
Chapter 1 is the pre-credit opening
Chapter 2 is the title sequence
Chapter 3 is first half of the show
Chapter 4 is second half of the show
Chapter 5 closing credits

I want to skip chapter 2 and chapter 5 automatically.

The main issue is that the pre-credit portion varies in duration from show to show making it very-very tedious to manually edit the EDL file for hundreds of shows.

Is it possible to get an EDL file to skip those chapters by?

however, during video playback arrow up/down will skip by chapters so even though not automatic is it really so hard to press arrow up to skip intro at the beginning and again at the end to skip credits?

It's not really hard at all but it gets pretty old when binge watching sitcoms like Big Bang Theory that originally aired with commercial breaks and without them range from 18-20 minutes. So, you end up having to pickup the remote pretty often. So, no its not hard but it is a pain in the ass.
