Scraping Not Successfully Pulling Shows Despite Finding Them on TheMovieDB
#1
Hi All,

Quick background: I've been using Kodi for years. Recently did a significant update to my server and decided to re-scrape my shows one by one just to get updated stuff (from artwork, to ratings, etc....). I'm hitting a roadblock though because numerous shows are failing to refresh correctly. Here's a walkthrough of one of them.....with images.

Show: Homeland (https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1407-homeland)

Process:
(1) Go to Videos -> [TV SOURCE]
(2) Scroll down to the show (Homeland in this case)
(3) Press I on keyboard

Immediately notice that strange enough, info doesn't pop up, this is despite the fact that the show is in my library (local pull from nfo files) and can be seen (with relevant info) in my TV Shows. This seems to be consistent for the shows failing to refresh correctly while other shows refresh fine and the info pops up same in TV SHOWS as well as in VIDEOS -> FILES

IMAGE (Info from TV Shows)

(4) Select refresh from VIDEO -> FILES -> FOLDER PATH (e.g., Homeland)
*** Note: If I try to highlight "refresh from within the TV SHOWS -> INFO seen in second image, I can't, when I try to navigate with a keyboard to refresh, it skips over the options

Picture: Showing that Homeland is hitting from scraper

(5) Select appropriate item ((Homeland (2011))"

RESULT: Nothing reloads but it also doesn't overwrite my old stuff (pulled from local nfo). I get the same screen as pic #1 as a result after it fails to actually refresh the show. Note that this isn't consistent, lots of shows refresh fine, but multiple (up to at least 10-15) have this issue.

Thanks as always.

Sounds good. But if you are using nfo files, that will never happen. All that happens is that the data in the nfo file is read back into your library. Nothing changes.
I 100% endorse the use of nfo files in conjunction with local artwork. The two go hand in hand.
If you open your Homeland tvshow.nfo file, you will see a long list of artwork links. I clicked on 10 at random. 9 of them were broken. ie only one worked
So, while your nfo files are great to preserve your data, the lack of local artwork has pretty much made them problematic, but luckily fanart.tv does not delete artwork as often as TMDB, so some/most of your images display.

As for the missing metadata, not sure what is going on there.

Firstly, you need to decide what you want. Do you truly want to rescrape your tv shows for fresh data? If yes, then you need to delete the nfo files.

What's weird is that about 75% of them have worked fine when I rescrape them.....so something weird is going on with the rest of them. I'll try to do another test and remove Homeland nfo files, remove from my TV SHOWS and then try to pull it back in. I'll report back.

I like the Media Companion "supplementary tool" program  Allows selective rescrape of  full nfo data.
