Bug KODI Matrix 20.2 no AAC sound through HDMI.
#1
I am trying to get AAC sound output through my Yamaha RX-V4A amplifier.
I have read lots of guides that tell me to change settings in KODI for this to happen but still no sound.
All other sound formats appear to work quite well.
My KODI installation is on Linux Mint 21.2 "Victoria".

Very few AVR's can decode AAC. Kodi will need to decode the stream (happens automatically, even if you have Passthrough enabled) and pass it onto the AVR which will display as "Multi Channel" or similar in the AVR display.
Can you provide a Debug Log that captures the problem.

I thought about that but the Linux Mint back end plays AAC audio without any issue.
Also playing some live TV stations with AAC sound play OK, others don't.
I though it might be a plug-in issue but I have the same thing happen with 2 different plugins not outputting sound in AAC format.

My Yamaha RX-V4A supports MPEG AAC codec. Click here for specifications.

Here is my Debug Log

Thank you...

I don't see any errors in the log. But I see you are on Linux, so I'll move you to the Linux forum.
I deal with Windows, so won't be much help with your Linux setup.

I managed to fix the problem without really doing anything much.
I just turned all the power off at the wall and waited for a few seconds and then turned back on.
Sound working on all live broadcasts as per normal.
So if all else fails, turn it off and then turn back on again.  🤣
