I have added 3 albums to my library and run the update. The albums do not appear in Recently Added Albums or when I search the artists name. They do appear when I use Files option and I can play the music.

How do I get Kod1 21 to recognize new albums added to the library.

It sounds like they aren't being scraped correctly. Please provide provide a full debug log.

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

Assuming you're relying entirely on internet resources for art and metadata... try this:

1) remove your music media source(s) from Settings>Media>Library>Manage Sources>Music...

2) goto Settings>Media>Music and enable the following options:

Fetch additional information during updates
Prefer online information
Prefer online album art

3) add your music source(s)

I do have some some Artistinfo files. There are just a handfull. What happens to them in his procedure?

Read the settings help text. It's pretty explicit. I edited my post to add a 3rd setting: Prefer online album art. To be honest I'm not sure which specific setting, or combination thereof, resolved this issue for me. There's nothing destructive about experimenting with these settings. You can remove and repopulate your music library as needed to narrow it down if you wish. I would start with Prefer online album art. hth

That seems to have fixed it. Thank you.

I am wondering if the fix has more to do with rebuilding the music sources than the changes to the settings.

Enabling those settings has always produced the most complete scrapes for me. In theory, those settings should have no impact on my music lib because I have zero local art or info files. Weird but it works so I've been doing this since helix. Anyway, happy to hear you're back in business.

Edit: To be clear, steps 1 & 3 are only necessary if step 2 was not preformed prior to adding music sources. Enabling these settings after the fact does nothing for the update process.

From your log, I don't think you are actually doing anything. Doing an "update" on music only finds new/changed files. What I ask is with debug logging enabled go to the "music" and then the "files" node. Navigate in the files to a folder containing songs that don't appear in your library views. Open the context menu on the folder and select "scan to library". In popup yes/no dialog that asks "scan if unchanged" select "yes". After complete post the log for review.

Note that "scraping" only has effect after you have scanned an artist or album and it is in the library. Adding new artist/album is solely accomplished by Kodi reading the "tags" in the files.
