Keep menu at same item after playback
#1
Is there a way to keep Kodi from popping up to the first menu item in a TV Show after the playback of a video? For example, I play an episode of a TV show from Season 4 Episode 6. When that episode ends, the menu comes back set to the first item in the list rather than S04E07. There is a setting in the Media Settings -> Videos to "Select first unwatched TV show season/episode," which I have set to "Never." I don't see any other item that might cover this and this "Never" setting doesn't have any effect. It's making me a little crazy! I use Amber skin, but it also does this in Estuary. Any ideas?

I can not duplicate this activity, on the end of the video I'm returned to the same video I just played in both file mode and library mode (with season folders).

Wasn't this a problem that fixed recently?

What version of Kodi are you using?

You could try v20 or v21 in portable mode to see if this fixes the issue for you before upgrading.

Was at least partially addressed in v21. IIRC the "Select first..." setting applies only when first entering the show/season and not afterwards.

I'll try that as I end up messing around with the skin files to tweak stuff and then lose it all when I upgrade, and 19.3 works fine other than this. Maybe after 3 years it's time to upgrade again! Thanks.

Good to know. Thanks!

If don't remember exactly what you changed in the skin files, but perhaps but have an idea of what files then you can use a tool such as Diffmerge (https://www.sourcegear.com/diffmerge/) to compare your current skin files (or even folders) with the new skin version

I've used that one before, but the basic problem is they add commands and functions that I barely understand and can't even figure out from context. Skin files have become so spaghetti-coded, I'm either going to have to use a skin as-is or keep what I've got now. I'm getting too old for this πŸ’©. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

In V21 If you want it to goto the next episode.Β  That setting need to set to "always" and will only work in libary view.

Copy your modded skin and edit addon.xml to give it a unique name and folder in your userdata addons (also copy your skin settings in addon_data from the old to new folder name there).Β  Then your mod won't be impacted by a Kodi upgrade, except of course any dependencies in the addon.xml must be available in the upgrade or the skin will be set "disabled" (but files still there).

The xbmc.gui version would also need to be changed to

xml:
<import addon="xbmc.gui" version="5.17.0"/>

While that will indeed get the skin to load, however depending on how on Kodi is used there's some things that may not work due to changes, for example Favourites.
