Because during the development from 21.0 to 21.1 it was discovered that information (or I) is pointless if there is no information at all, this option was removed from the core. Unfortunately, I no longer have the option to edit graphics because this function was also removed along with the information. This only affects music videos for which no CDs from the artist are included in Kodi. One possibility would be to change the entry "set artist thumb" to "choose art" in the context menu.

I agree with that. For an artist there's more artwork than only the thumb of them. So long as you can add custom artwork types to video (they are available on music too) the "set artist thumb" should be exended to "set artwork" in context menu of the choosen artist. This should call the Button ID 10 used in DialogVideoInfo.xml.

I understand that the "information" entry was removed from context menu when no database information is available and therefore this entry is obsolete, but now the user has no chance anymore to add additional artwork.

I only have a problem with video artists whose CDs I don't have in Kodi.
For artists whose CDs I have in Kodi, the data for text information, posters, fan art and many other images is automatically generated from the music database.
I only have a problem with the information for these artists. That is that I can't insert any images other than „set artist thumb“. But so far I've also added a fan art or clear logo for these artists. That would work if you swapped the entry „set artist thumb“ for "choose art" in the context menu for video artists. Because I can also insert an artist preview image under "choose art". But with "choose art" you can also include additional images.

Affects all actors, not just MV artists.  I was kind of lobbying to keep it in, but it really needs a better design I suppose.  You could add it in the "requests" forum.  If you do, try to be complete as to what the use case is for it.

Thanks Scott967 for your contribution. Just to mention it again: Changing the entry "set artist thumb" to "choose art"in the context menu would solve all problems also for actors. In this case too, the artist thumb (poster) could be inserted.

For months I have been trying to politely but persistently point out a situation here on the board regarding video artists. Since that hasn't worked so far, I'll try to be more direct now.
First of all, I'm only talking about video artists for whom I don't have any data under Music (e.g. Eric Burdon)

There are no problems with video artists for whom I do have data under Music (e.g. Eric Clapton).

I'm now only talking about artists for whom I don't have any data under Music, because the Context and Information menus are very different from those for whom I do have data under Music.

Since Kodi 21.1, the Information menu under Video Artists no longer works at all. Up until Kodi 21, I could still call up this Information menu and insert images such as posters, fan art, clear logos into it. This hasn't worked at all since Kodi 21.1. My request to change „set artist thumb“ entry to „Choose Arts“ in the context menu was not only ignored. I can no longer use „set artist thumb“ function. It may be that I am one of the few users who actually uses this function. But it is what it is, it is clearly a mistake and ignoring it is not a solution. If I have been too unfriendly to one or two people, I would like to tell those users that I have tried to be friendly for months, but that has made no difference.

That’s just life. We all are volunteers and have zero obligations for user support. We will work on stuff / write in the forum / … whenever our free time after our daily job permits. And this sometimes can take “months”, yes.

@ ksooo, you can really believe me when I say that I am well aware of your voluntary work. I would have been absolutely satisfied if I had just received a one-liner as a reply at some point, telling me that the problem had been seen and was being worked on. But I have been struggling with this for months in the German forum and here in Kodi there were almost 500 hits, but not a single reply. That kind of thing just frustrates me.
With regard to your change, which is at the momentset to "Open", as you can see in the attached image, you have taken up exactly my request, for which I thank you very much. If you now click on Choose Art in the context menu, you can use "add art type" to add other image types, such as fanart, clearaudio, etc.

Regards (and please excuse my last post, which was admittedly a bit "pissed off". It's really not my style. _bj1 can perhaps confirm that. :-) )
