Can you reselect the skin from the Settings>Interface page?

If you go to your ...\Roaming\Kodi\Userdata\Addon_data\ folder, is there a folder in there for the Nimbus skin? Is there a settings.xml file in that folder?

Where is Nimbus skin from? I don't recall hearing of it.

Looks quite nice. Wonder why he does not post on the forum here, or into the repo.

Is the settings.xml file in there?

Yes its nice and minimal.

there is a settings file in there but nthing else.

The strange thing is that before setting up Nimbus I made change to the Estuary skin and these too reset to default.

ok, then I can't think of what the problem could be. If the settings.xml file is there, then the setting for the skin should be in it.
Maybe a Debug Log might show something if you feel like providing it.

There's also guisettings.xml in the userdata (wiki) folder.

That's the overarching settings file for the GUI, including telling Kodi which skin to use.
Forced shutdowns such as power outages can cause that (or indeed any open file) to get corrupted.

If that happens, the next time you boot, Kodi will find that file missing/corrupt and so will default back to a vanilla Estuary set-up so that it can actually display something to allow you recover things.
I've had that guisettings file corrupt on me occasionally (usually from power failure or Kodi crashing and having to be force-closed), hence it's one to keep a backup of.

Maybe somehow you switched from portable mode to non portable or vice versa?

I have also had guisettings get borked and Kodi created a clean default guisettings.xml on restart.  Switching the skin in the interface settings might be enough, but I have also had skin settings.xml get corrupted too.  If your skin has lots of settings always best to back up its folder found in addon_data.
