Hello,

I got an android box and I want to use kodi as a media center for movies I already have on an external hard drive.

I want to make something really simple to set up. I don't need network configuration. (I don't need to retrieve movies information)

I would like to display 3 or 4 categories : full movies, short films, new, anime

For each category, only one page with all the movies displayed on the same page, with a square thumbnail for each movie, and a thumbnail I could personalize if possible (like a photo in the movie folder like the name_of_the_movie.jpeg)

And the ability to click on the thumbnail of the movie in order to play it instantly without additional screen with the movie information.

Is that possible with the basic Kodi or a mod ?

Doesn't sound like you want to use Kodi at all.

Then you would be using it all wrong. Stick with file explorer Videos>Files
