I have an external USB WD Passport drive with a ton of movies and TV shows on it. It is mounted and visible in Finder and my Desktop. I can navigate and access all of the files using VLC or other applications.
Up until yesterday, I had Kodi 21 set up on my Macbook M1 (Sequoia 15) with both movies and TV shows set up. Today I tried to watch something and it kept telling me none of the videos were available.
I went into Files | TV Shows | Any Show and there were no files to be seen. It was completely blank with nothing in the folder. Library still said it had shows, but the actual Files section did not.
I went into my Finder | Passport and sure enough, there's folders and all my content is there.
I removed both my movies and TV shows from the Kodi library and tried to re-add them. When I go into Sources and Navigate to my Passport drive, I get as far as the name of the device, but no further. I removed Kodi entirely and blew away the media folder (my library is small), reinstalled, and still had the same issue.
Add Videos -> Browse -> Volumes -> Passport -> Nothing
If I browse Finder, it's Passport -> Personal -> Movies or Passport -> Personal -> TV Shows. I can see them, open them, all without issue, just not within Kodi.
Searches here and Reddit both reported issues around the file permissions so I tried that. System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Files & Folders -> Kodi and the Removable Volumes slider is enabled. I even turned that off and gave Kodi full disk access.
No idea why all of a sudden it won't let me navigate into any of the folders on the external drive. It sees the drive, and clearly MacOS can see it and access it, but Kodi only sees the mount point and not the actual sub-folders and contents.
Any suggestions?
