Solved Kodi keeps replacing my profiles.xml by default master user
#1
Hello
Changing my android TV box for another one, I copy all the contents or my userdata folder from my old box to the new one using Kodi file manager
I then check the contents of my profiles.xml. They are ok containing my 4 profiles. The profiles directories are also present.
I restart Kodi, in order for these changes to be taken into account, and pshttt, my profiles.xml has been changed to the default one with Master Userdata profile only.
I must be doing something wrong
Any idea?

kodi resaves profiles.xml when it exits so you need to copy the files into place when kodi IS NOT RUNNING

Thanks, looks as bad news for me.
I cannot do that because I have no access to the data directories on this Android box, except from inside the app itself. The reason why I am using Kodi file manager to do it.
I understand it comes with new Android versions Sad

you can try https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=379387

personally i still haven't had any issues with using adb but usually most people have great difficulty using it as it's more for developers

Eventualy I did note

Understanding it is Kodi saving itself current profiles context,

I copy my profile folders into the target
I add profiles with the vey same name and Kodi finds the existing profile, allowing you to use them.

And that's it
I find back my profiles
