Kodi 21.1 on Android TV, video freezes, audio continues, many times in a row
#1
Hello!

For several years I have successfully used KODI 20.* to view high-bitrate content (about 60-80 GB per file) via smb on my Android 11 TV. Some time ago, an update to KODI 21.1 arrived from the Play Market, after which even those files that were successfully opened by the 20.* version stopped playing normally.

The problem is as follows: after several minutes of playback, the picture freezes (the audio continues to play normally), then about 10-60 seconds pass and the picture "comes to life" again at the right place of movie (in accordance with the audio). This happens very often, once every 5 minutes.

I have tried to adjust smb settings, cache settings, etc - that has no effect at all.

Now I have no idea what else should I do, please, any help will be appreciated.

The file you play needs nearly 80 Mbit/s per second. If you are connected via 100 Mbit/s LAN - then this will be most likely too slow including overhead.

You are 100% sure that exactly this file played nicely in v20?

Also something: v20 did not support DolbyVision, while v21 does. You can test if that is causing your issue by simply disabling HDR+ and DolbyVision in the settings for a test.

From the logs though it points towards network throughput.
