Ok finally got my acer revo, (arriving on Jan 15). I have a couple of questions that I want to grasp before I start playing with it. I want to get 1080 playback using mkv containers and hdmi surround sound
First thing I have read is to devote 512mb of ram to video RAM. also I have read this [LIVE] HOW-TO install XBMC Live on Acer Aspire Revo - The Complete Guide for Newbies
some pointer for me that I have read.
make sure under Settings>Video>Player>Render Method I have selected VDPAU
install new nvidia drivers and install the flash 10.1 driver
XBMC on the Acer Aspire Revo R3600
HOW-TO install XBMC for Linux on Ubuntu, a Step-by-Step Guide
Autostart XBMC following Full Karmic Install
I also want to be able to share using samba to other computers at home (buying a boxee also). any good how to's going around for this that you would recommend?
Thanks and I love xbmc!

- I want to dual boot, xbmc live and ubuntu on the box. (ubuntu on there to download torrents) What do I need to install first, ubuntu or live? I read that live now has an option to partition your disk and install live on that partition. is this the way to go?
- I am thinking of running live from a usb stick- will this be slower than running it from a partition on the HDD. how are you able to get different skins on live and save the skins to live? I want to use aeon skin.
Or should I use xbmc and use the [LINUX] XBMC Setup Script - Automatic installation of XBMC for Linux
this looks like a very easy option to install as I dont have alot of knowledge on linux.
- How do I get my remote (universal remote) to work with xbmc? I was using event ghost on my last window set up however have not tried under LIRC under linux. is there a good how to anywhere as I did not get anything under the search results for a universal remote.
