Movie Playback Issues

Question
Hello,

I'm having some trouble with movie playback.

Some .iso and .img files I have play fine on the xbox and some fail to play at all and it's slightly frustrating to say the least.

I have verified that all of these files will load up and play in VLC on the computer, so I'm unsure as to what the issue is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the log file.

Thanks,
Dennis

The log would be more useful with debug information. Hold X+Y as your console boots XBMC to activate debug mode.

To make a quick guess, it may be that the file sharing/security permissions on your PC are out of whack. How you alter them depends on what release of Windows you have.

Sorry about that, here's the log with debug turned on.

Not really sure how file permissions could be the issue as the movies are all located in the same directory.

Permissions are not always inherited correctly.

Anyway, the log states XBMC can't find the file "VIDEO_TS.IFO", specifically. Open one of your problem ISOs in something like WinRar, and see if you can find that in there.

I saw that in the log so the first thing I did was to verify that the file was actually present in the iso file. I checked each file that XBMC failed on and they all had the file that XBMC said it couldn't find.

It may be worth grabbing a copy of the Windows port of XBMC, see if that can handle the suspect image files. Or perhaps pull all the files out of an image into a folder, and see if XBMC will play them like that?

Ok, very strange.

I downloaded a copy of XBMC for Windows and was still unable to play the same .iso files. Different error message this time though.

Going to try playing the files out of a folder instead of an .iso in a few minutes.

If that doesn't work, perhaps try running the DVD contents through FixVTS or something? Not sure it'll help, but I'm not sure what else to suggest.
