you need to add external routing and NAT to your internal servers ip.

basically the wan address of your router (external address)
then login to your router setup a nat translation using a virtual server and port.

EG:
extrenal ip 244.23.222.23

login to your router

find the settings for NAT or virtual port addressing.

choose internal ip address of your server and a port number. eg 192.168.2.200 incomming port 2020 and add ext port number to be 2020

ensure you have a streaming protocol running on the server with your media and its shared.

Done

point your device with xbmc network settings share at the wan ip of your router.

you must have a very fast connection to play your media direct(4g EE is desired in the UK), best way is to use a streaming app:

I Use AirPlayit on PC/ Android and my iphone and it works very well even under 3G. HQ streaming to all devices
