Is there any addon to auto export .nfo?
#1
Hi,

I have a +1100 movie library on multiple NAS disks each movie has the right name and his own folder with the right name for scrapers.

This library is accessed by multiple instances of Kodi/Isengard on Windows (HTPC, Main PC) and two Android tablets.

When i add movie(s) to my NAS i run a scraper from my "main" PC Isengard instance and i export the new .nfo (and actors, fanart, ect...) generated by the scraper to the appropriated movie folder.

The tedious process is always the same:

- Settings>Video>Library>Export Video Library>Export to single file or separate entry>Separate>Yes>Export thumbnails and fanart>Yes>Export actor thumbs>Yes>Overwrite old files>No

Doing this all the Kodi/Isengard but my "main" PC instance have access to the complete movie info using Videos-Update library with "local information only" option selected in "Movies"-Edit source- Set content.

I do this because:

- I want to have a backup with the all the movie info in his own folder

- I avoid the need to run a scraper to get the same info from internet in each Kodi/Isengard instances for each movie, a simple scrap from "local info only" take the info from the movie folder and add it to the video library database

Is there an addon or script to automate the export the video library (the .nfo and other files) per movie folder?

Thanks.

This would be nice.

Not aware of any add-on that will run an automated export, but you can considerably reduce the number of button clicks to run the export.

Doing an export via a kemap for the built-in export function is probably good enough.  You could write an addon to fire the built-in, that way could keep persistent settings for the options (in the addon settings) rather than hard-code them into the keymap command.  Then you could run the script from a keymap "runscript" or the startup skin window.

Is this a suggestion for add-on developers, or regular users? If it's for regular users, a lot of that went over my head.

Yes, you need to be able to write an addon if anyone was so inclined.

Its unbelievable that I use XMBC/Kodi for 10 years ans the problems are always the same. The interface never evolves. Running a setup between 2 machines is painfull. Every time you need to do all the settings again (in XBOX ironic its worst). Everytime you add a movie, export all movies again (I know I can skip and do not overwrite, but was much easier every time I add a movie it already EXPORT the poster and NFO. Every screen on the interface has different option, in a insane interface that has no sense at all. If I begin to rewatch a scene in a movie, than stops, it came to the start screen. OK. I agree with that. But if I try to mark the movie as WATCHED again, DONT HAVE THE OPTION in the start screen, only can set as UNWATCH! Thats insane. We have a lot os option with "C" in some screens like in library, and almost nothing in other screens. FAVORITES are useless for the same reason. The result of a search is useless too. We cannot use the option. It seems the interface is a real mess. Kodi is very UNINTUITIVE to start and the only people I know that use the program are the ones that I made the initial SETUP (set folders to collection, configure imdb for scrapping and subtitles from opensubtitles). I for a very long time MISS the option to keep both titles (ORIGINAL and localized for my country) and the possibility to SEARCH BOTH of them. And KODI never seems to even care for all this mess and unintuitive things that scares people to use something that could be by far the best solution for almost everybody. Everybody that cames here in my house gets really impressed. But none managed to configure and made this work. TEN years back, we have the same problems (LESS problems sometimes. I cannot manage do ADD a movie manually anymore, and some TV movies made from tvshow never get scrapped - but in the past I could do it, about 5-8 years ago I guess)

No, it's really easy if you use a shared database. Admittedly there is a little more work to do setting it up but once done, you can add multiple Kodi instances (I have 5) that all have the same info in them.

Guess it's already marked as watched then. Times watched isn't a thing, either you have watched it or you haven't. If you haven't, you can mark it as watched and if you have, you can mark it as unwatched. I'm uncertain why you would want another option?

Favourites are very useful for me. I use path subs to share my favourites between machines and my favourites have been renamed (I edited the skin) to Internet Radio. They all point to stations I listen to and are available on all my Kodi installs. I know this isn't exactly how they are meant to be used, but creative use is one of the reasons that Kodi is so powerful.

Sure we care. If you have some ideas about how we could improve things then by all means suggest them. If you can do some mock-ups to help visualise it then that would help. If you can edit/re-write a skin to show us what you would like the interface to look like then I'm sure we would happily accept a PR of your code.

It's easy 'on the inside' to know how to configure or set something up but I do agree that this probably isn't always the case for someone approaching Kodi for the first time. I don't think it's difficult to do, but perhaps there are areas that we could improve upon.

Given you have so many complaints about Kodi @marcioscheibel, yes I agree it is unbelievable that you are still using it. Please help yourself to using something else as your media player.

A new skin perhaps?

Good suggestion: Best placed in the feature requests forum.

Since this thread got bumped recently, has anyone come up with a solution for the actual subject of the thread/

I'm still looking for an auto export solution, years later.
