Hello,
I have recently setup a vBox XTi-3342, using an external USB drive and Kodi 16.1 for watching / recording live TV.
All seems to work well, (especially now I have worked out how to setup channel pairing for the HD channels), with the exception of playing back recordings.
If I try to play a recording a 'working' message appears in the bottom right hand corner for < 1 second and then nothing else happens.
Having looked at the logfile the I have the following message:
11:33:26 T:11752 NOTICE: DVDPlayer: Opening: http://192.168.1.242:55555/Media/The Simpsons__Channel 4__24-08-2016_11-00.mpg

If I paste the above URL into a browser, I can download the file and it plays fine. I can also access the recordings by adding the vBox as a UPNP device in the video section of Kodi, which gets round the problem to a certain extent, but I'd like it to work in the 'recordings' menu.
I have Kodi installed on Windows 10, Android 6 and a Fire stick and the same error occurs across the devices.
I have worked through the menus and other forum posts to try and resolve it but have had no joy.
Any thoughts / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
