samba, id3 and xbmc
#1
gday all, greetings from australia.

i'm 99% sure i've sound a bug in xbmc but if somone else could duplicate it that would be great. for the most part samba and xbmc talk fine to each other, but it seems pretty easy to break it (and fix it again)

1) get a samba share happening (i'm using samba 3) and fill it up with around 300 files or so.

2) config the share on xbmc (i'm using the 1102 build)

3) view the share. it should take ages, but still work. (xbmp can read the shares much quicker, im guessing thats the id3 reading.)

4) once you can view the contents of the share and verify that everything else works, restart xbmc.

at this point, all the samba shares appear as empty. my samba logs indicate everything is working, but nothing appears within xbmc.

the share is configured like so:

<bookmark>
<name>mp3 stash</name>
<path>smb://user:pass@lanhaus/mypc/music</path>
<cachesize>8192</cachesize>
</bookmark>

fix : if you turn off id3 tags, the problem goes away.

um, thats about it. i have 2 xboxes and to linux boxes and i've seen the problem on both. let me know if you can duplicate this or have any other questions.

i´ve got the exact problem you say you´ve resolved. but i´ve disabled id3 tags and changed everything according to you specs but i still get an empty share
works fine with windows shares but not with linux (samba) shares.

would be grateful for tips.
