v17 How Do I Add Independent Internet Radio Stations In Kodi 17.6
#1
Music
I'm a nubie. I just bought a Amazon Fire Stick and installed Kodi 17.6 on it for my media server. I want to add a independent internet radio station. Can I do that? And if so, how?
Thanks.

Hello @Angelsong7

You will need to do that via an Add-on.

If you detail which radio station it is, with a link to their site, then other members may recognise if it is available as an add-on and guide you accordingly.

Or find the URL of the stream and create a strm file.
If I have helped you or increased your knowledge, click the 'thumbs up' button to give thanks :) (People with less than 20 posts won't see the "thumbs up" button.)

But if you want the Shoutcast metadata to be read (if there is any) and display of station name and track playing then use an addon, there are several in the offical repo that can do this.

Struggled to get results from the instructions on your link. Can you look and see if I'm missing anything? Here is logfile.

I went to site, clicked play on player, checked both inspect and view page source, found about 7 different possible url's. Saved each of them and tried each of them. None of them worked. This is the same for about 4 stations I'm trying to add. Wondering if there are any alternate methods?

Thanks.

your strm files need to contain links to actual streams not just links to webpages, kodi does not parse webpages

Ok. Well, I'm new in this arena so don't worry about hurting my feelings and talk to me like I'm stupid. I THOUGHT I followed the instructions exactly as they were shared in link from Karellen. Only difference was I wasn't finding the same "source" for the stream that he seemed to. So what exactly am I looking for then? Or will this just not be possible in this situation?

radio url for the webpage https://player.listenlive.co/43681

using developer panel in your browser you can locate where it loads the stream from and use that

the above link's source is:

https://26343.live.streamtheworld.com/KF...a487f113bf

rinse and repeat for the rest of your urls

I really appreciate the help. What you are telling me makes sense. I guess, my trouble is, I can't find what you found anywhere. I'm just not looking in the right place and before when I could use Ctl+F to find what I am looking for, that doesn't appear to be working where I'm searching. :/ Any lead on where in Developer Tools I should look to narrow it down a bit? Thank you VERY much for your help!!

for chrome - https://developer.chrome.com/docs/devtools/network/

for firefox - https://firefox-source-docs.mozilla.org/devtools-user
                - https://firefox-source-docs.mozilla.org/...rk-monitor

clicking the small button "media" on either one should narrow the results to just media urls, images/streams/etc

a good video, its for chrome but similar operation for firefox - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTVpBbFWry8

i dont use any microsoft browsers so your own research would be needed for edge/internet explorer
