I thought this is because of PR 13992, but it actually happens with the previous versions too. If you play an episode or movie from its library folder and you have autoplay enabled for that type, then it doesn't scan for external subtitles and VideoPlayer.CastAndRole returns nothing.
To test for VideoPlayer.CastAndRole just replace VideoPlayer.Plot with it at the end of DialogSeekBar.xml
If autoplay is disabled or if you play the file directly from a widget (not from widgets that lead to folders like the In Progress TV shows or Unwatched widgets), then everything works fine.
Tested on Windows 7 and Android Oreo
