Kodi v18 Leia missing channel icons in recordings
#1
Running CoreElec on amlogic (odroid-c2)

Has something changed from Kodi 17 to 18 ?

CoreElec runs pretty much fine without having to modify MCE remote.  And anything else that I've found.  However one thing is broken and that's the channel icons when using the info key when watching Tvheadend recordings.

It's missing.  Interesting to note the channel icon shows up in channels.

Any input would be great

CoreELEC support can be found here.

Thanks but doesn't help.  Did you see the link?  Where did you think I got the CoreElec image from?

Was hoping Kodi team elites might have a clue

The Kodi team elites are not the ones who are baking CoreELEC's cakes. We use different recipes, so to speak.

It seems like it should show Player.Art(thumb).  Maybe that's not being set for recordings that are playing?

First let me explain I'm primarily using Libreelec.  On both X86 Zontac with nvidia graphics and Amlogic Odroid-C2 boxes.  The reference to Coreelec above is because it's geared to Amlogic devices (github sources from Libreelec).  Don't think Libreelec had the odroid-c2 image available then and that's why I tried coreelec.  BTW: Libreelec (LibreELEC-Odroid_C2.arm-8.90.004.img.gz) has the same issue as Coreelec.

One of the problems is trying to get support.  Is it a Kodi issue?  Is it a Libreelec issue?  Is it a Coreelec issue

I've recently changed from Schedules Direct to using zap2it (zap2xml).  Gives more EPG data and it's free.  If you look at the "it's missing" link above that redirects you to the Coreelec site it shows some screenshots I've posted.  The first one shows the missing channel icon with program info.  The second screenshot shows the channels and has the correct channel icon pulled from Tvheadend (nothing local on Kodi) and program info.  The third screenshot is the EPG that actually has a show icon and program info.  BTW the show icon is one of the reasons I've moved away from Schedules Direct because it doesn't provide it.

The info key when watching OTA recordings shows channel icon along with title and program info about the current recording.  Works just fine on Libreelec 8.2.5 that's running Kodi v17

No, it's not. This fix is about thumbnails not displayed in osd even if provided by the add-on.

Regarding the problem reported here: Player.Art(thumb) is supposed to return the thumbnail, not a channel icon. Formerly, there was a crude fallback logic in the core code mixing semantically different things into one guiinfo label, namely the channel icon and the thumb. That got fixed for Leia. If we want channel logo in video osd as a fallback for non existing thumbnail, this needs to by handled by the skin.

This is something I've suspected because the channel icon obviously exists as shown in the channel display in Kodi.  Also applies to other skins because I've tried others.  There is a change in the UI between v17 and v18

Skin can get the videoplayer channel number and subchannel number, but I don't see a way to get the channel icon?  There's a Pvr.NowRecordingChannelIcon (or Next) but that's it.

See https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/14423 - ksooo has already fixed it.
