season art in File View mode / season folder names
#1
Is per-season art supposed to show up in File View mode?  I use File mode almost exclusively, and I'm finding that with a show's folder highlighted, I get the full-screen background art and the smaller, rectangular "DVD box cover" art to the right of the file list.  (Sorry for the imprecise terms - I assume the background is poster art, not sure about the smaller rectangle.  fwiw, this is Confluence, Kodi v15.2.)

However, once I dive into the show's folder, to the level where the season folders are, all art disappears & I get the default blue background.  If I then dive into a season folder, I get the show's background back + a small rectangular preview of whichever episode is highlighted.

Is this the expected behavior?  It would be nice if the show background remained throughout - and extra nice if the season folders showed season-specific poster art, the way they do in the Library View.

I've considered trying to export my library metadata to disk, to see if this fixes the problem.  Before I do this, though:  does season folder naming matter, for the purpose of exporting season art from the library?  (Mine are "season_01", not "Season 1".)

Brush up on your terminology... Artwork (wiki)

Yes, this expected behaviour.

Using Files mode bypasses the library and the Textures.db which specifically links to the Textures cache. So, no, you won't see all the lovely artwork as you would using Library mode.

If you want nice and extra nice, then use the library.

Yes it does. Read the link I provided above. But it won't do anything for Files view.

Couldn't find any reference to artwork terms on that page... Did you mean this link:  TV Show Artwork?  I read that page before posting, but still wasn't clear.  Re-reading it now, I guess the smaller art is the poster, and the background is "fan art".

However, the fan art & poster art *does* appear in Files mode - when a show folder or an episode is highlighted.  So I'm guessing it's bypassed for intermediate folders only?

Yes it does. Read the link I provided above.
Couldn't find any reference to season folder naming in the link you provided.  On the TV Show Artwork page, though, it seems to imply that season posters will be exported to the main show folder, not the season folders:

If this is the case, then I guess my naming is fine.
