XBOX Can't play video files from SQL share
#1
hi everyone,

I recently installed kodi 18 Beta5 on my xbox one. I'm using a SQL DB on my NAS which works fine with my windows kodi clients. So I copied my advancedsettings.xml over to the xbox and it sees all the movies and tv shows. However no cover is displayed and starting anything results in an error message "this file is no longer available". I already activated the smb add-on on the xbox and manually added my NAS folder as a Source. If I play anything from Videos > Files it works but still not from the library. I tried creating a passwords.xml but that also didn't work.

If anyone can tell me how to access the log file on an xbox one I'll gladly provide that aswell.

Thanks in advance Smile

Not the very latest Kodi test build, we're at RC4 already, which also goes into MyVideos113 via a database update.
To be strict, Kodi does not play files from a 'SQL share'. The database only holds the links to source locations.

Database entries for video and music are stored with the full path including the file protocol. So, any changes in that full path will result in a "No longer availabe" message. So something changed in your network setup.

There is a Kodi log add-on, and other instructions can be found in the debug log (wiki) wiki page.

Thank you for your quick reply Klojum!

I installed it from the Xbox One store today and it gave me Beta 5. I thought this was intended somehow but I wouldn't know how to get RC4 on xbox if not from the official store? On my windows client I'm on RC4.

I still think it's user related. Nothing else has chanced and all windows clients work. For test reasons I have allowed all users to read my nas folders and now xbox works aswell. Only I don't know what the default user on xbox is (if any) when attempting to access via smb. On windows all clients have the same user which I specifically gave rights on my nas. I think that is why all clients but the xbox worked before.

I'll add the log tomorrow
