How to specify different location of the "Extras" folder?
#1
The documentation for Add-on:Extras says:
Quote:The name of this folder can be changed in settings but you can only use one name.

But I cannot find this anywhere in the Settings.

Also, is it possible to change the location of the folder?

Any suggestions?

No

Find the Add-on in Add-ons>My Add-ons>Context Menu and click on it to open the screen shown in the first image. Then press "Configure" to open the second image. That is where you change it.

Thanks for clarifying. I tried that, and it's already set to Extras.

Mostly I have movie folders in the form of "Title (Year)" that contain discs ripped to .mkv files. The extras are in a subdirectory, e.g., "Title (Year)/Extras".

What's puzzling me is that I see a bunch of "Extras" in my movie library. Kodi thinks they are all a short documentary from China about exploited film extras.

I tried adding an <excludefromscan> section (pasted here) to my /home/kodi/.kodi/userdata/advancedsettings.xml file, then Clean Library, reboot, Update Library, but it has no effect.

Any suggestions about how to make this work?

That code looks the same as the code on the wiki page, so I assume you have already seen the wiki page... https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Extras#Pre...To_Library

Sounds about right. You need to manually delete the entries from the library, then clean library.

As they are already in the library and Kodi "knows" the file is still there, then Kodi won't do anything about removing them. That advancedsettings.xml code only comes into effect on first scan into the library. From then on, that code does not apply anymore.

Yes, I just copied the XML from the Wiki page for the Add-on. I don't claim to know how it actually works Big Grin

So it sounds like I need to remove all the movies with Extras from the library, then Clean Library, then Update Library...?

What's the best way to remove a movie from the library without actually deleting and then replacing the actual movie folder on the HDD?

The actual movie does not need to be deleted, but all the Extras that were scraped incorrectly need to be removed.

Yes

You don't need to delete or remove from the hard disk, just remove the entry from the library. Press Delete on your keyboard or Context Menu>Manager>Remove from library if you are using a remote control.

That works. Cool.

One last thing. Maybe I'm doing this wrong, but if I browse the movie library I can get Extras through the context menu for individual movies, but if I do a search for the movie by title, I don't see Extras on the context menu for the search result, and I can't figure out how to see Extras from the Movie Information page.

Is there some trick to this?

You can't. It is a Context Menu item only.

You cannot see the Context Menu option in the Search screen. Maybe a feature request for the add-on developer?
