Solved .strm - How to play a publicly shared Google Drive movie directly in Kodi Player?
#1
Hi,

I am trying to perform a test which I play a movie that is shared on Google Drive using a .strm file. The url uses the https:// protocol. I am aware of the Google Drive add-on but for this test, accordingly to the Google Drive add-on developer @cguZZMan, I must not use it since I am trying to isolate where the playback issues I am facing are - if they are on the Kodi player or on the Google Drive add-on.

I've tried doing that but I can't. The player seems to start but does not show anything: it closes 1 second after the play icon appears on the top.

Here is the log file. I tried several times and using the urls in different formats (using https and http and using the /view at the end and the actual download url generated but Google Drive when I click to download a file)? : https://paste.kodi.tv/erusikojim.kodi

  What am I doing wrong?

Thanks
Gilson

In case you are wondering why I need that - it is simple - in Kodi v18.1 and 18.2 I get the video shuttering issue when streaming from a secure https server. The same problem does not happen on Kodi 18.0. I've entered an issue on the Google Drive git and the developer asked to me to try to open that same video directly on Kodi to try to isolate the problem. All the details about the issue I am having (and other who use NVidia Shield TV + Google Drive + Kodi 18.1 or 18.2) can be found here: https://github.com/cguZZman/plugin.googl.../issues/67

It seems like the problems with the Google Drive add on have been solved in the Kodi 18.4. I don't need this anymore and this thread can be closed.
