Is there anyway I can install the same addon twice on the same machine/ profile. Basically want to use one instance with one settings set and other with another. And I would want both to auto update too, obviously.

You could fork it to another name which would allow a parallel install, but that would break updating on the forked version.
Which addon are you thinking of?

You could use profiles but I suspect that won't help you.
