I have a question regarding some videos that live on my NAS in subfolders of my movies folder using Matrix 19.3 out of the box using Missing Movies.



Missing movies is telling me .... in a box.mp4 (and 5 other videos like it) is missing even though present on the drives...and Vimu and Serviio both pick it up. 

I guess because Kodi insists that it scrapes "something"....this video doesn't show up in the infowall even though I have a proper poster there for infowall to use.

How do I resolve a video that has no scrape source?

This folder is scraped as movies...and I don't want to move the source file elsewhere as it is in the "christmas" folder for easy retrieval.

If a media does not exist at one of the scrape sources for which Kodi can search you will have to create your own .nfo file for it. See the wiki on the format for movie nfo files. Note that there are supplementary tools outside of Kodi (see the forum subsection) that can assist in creating the nfo (for example, Media Companion is a Windows program that you can use for "home movies" that don't scrape).

An alternative is this scraper filename scraper which just provides the filename as the title and adds that to the library (I don't have experience with it).

Thank you for this information, it helped solve my issue.

FYI to those reading this. I used Media companion to solve my issue and all my files now show up. Kodi is a bit odd in how it requires some form of scrape to put movie files in the library, but I understand why.

The tool did a nice job of creating the nfo file for the missing content.

My method to ensure success was:

1. Copy video file elsewhere for testing
   
2. Used media companion to create the nfo file and verify it's accuracy
   
3. Saved the .nfo file
   
4. Copied that .nfo to the location on my NAS server
   
5. In Kodi, using "Videos", located the file, (Using Windows) > Right clicked and used "Scan to library"
   
6. Deleted test files in the elsewhere location
   

This method worked for all 5 of my missing movies. I realized later that I could have done this directly from the program without copying and moving things around....but with the size of my libraries, it made sense to NOT do it in a live environment where not knowing the outcome could have caused havoc by not understanding how the tool works. Also note that it downloads the fanart and other items that may or may not already be there or inaccurate image files because it pulls items it thinks may be correct....and I found out....wasn't.

This is also the reason why I did the elsewhere option..so if anything was wrong, it wouldn't be cluttering up my NAS and require cleanup.....vs. the elsewhere location which can be easily handled and pruned.

Using this tool and advice from Scott allowed me to move to Kodi for all of my needs as I now understand how to find/repair/add items as needed...and the media companion tool IMHO is a must have...this will solve a lot of the issues.

I'm sure this information exists elsewhere on this site, but for anyone coming into Kodi like I have from other software, it can be a bit problematic if you don't understand the workflow.
