Kodi flickers and flashes constantly when I turn the monitor on
#1
Hi

I am using Kodi 20 on Linux Debian. I have a laptop and an HDMI Tv attached to the laptop as a mirror. I turn my TV off at night and turn it on in the mornign, when I do it Kodi constantly flashes and makes my desktop pretty much unusable becuse I cant click on anything due to constant Kodi flashing by going back and forth.

Here is the log.

Eek
what a mess, cleanup on aisle 1

logs arent supposed to be pasted directly into the forum, thats what the red text said when you posted all that
thats an info level log, please post a debug log
please use paste.kodi.tv
please post an entire log top to bottom, version info should be at the top somewhere, an exit event is expected near the bottom but may not be there

Sorry about that, I did not see the message, and it does not let me edit my original post. I will get the debug post.

Perhaps we should use a bigger font for that bold/red text...

You are a newcomer to this forum, and therefore certain restrictions are activated as part of the forum's anti-spam measures.
As far as log files go, cutting off parts is not going to help us ascertaining a problem in Kodi more quickly.

Thank you.
I guess it would be more useful if the log warning is at the top of the entry box with bigger fonts. I saw it only after I did the posting.

right on, i read over the log but didnt personally see any red flags
that doesnt mean a whole lot, just something i havent encountered
someone will likely come along who knows more than me but given international time zones it could be anywhere from minutes to hours to a day, no way to know

a small heads up for you, your new account is limited by default to 9 posts a day and youve used 5
so if you want to respond to someone who actually has some value to your issue i might recommend ignoring me and waiting until its important to respond

not saying can or cannot, just a heads up, its default for everyone

Aren't you becoming just a tidbit overbearing on this? FYI, you're not a TeamKodi member or a moderator, so if there is a problem with someone's account or the post count, the Team will sort it out.

just trying to warn the poor guy if he keeps going the way he is on posting hes not going to be able to respond when it really matters and responding to me doesnt matter because i have nothing useful

but, since you in fact are a mod and a team kodi member then if you say i am then i am and i will try to limit my responses

What I see from the logs is that the full reload of GL Rendering system is triggered by "OnLostDevice - notify display change event". One of codepaths calling this function is in SetWindow and another is in SetFullScreen, but SetFullScreen emits the debug message I dont see in the log. Likely the output name changes here: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/blob/master...1.cpp#L673 but we will need to dump xrandr info in process to understand why that happens.

Thanks for looking into it. I use it in windowed mode., The laptop's screen is always closed, I mean the lid is closed. I tested it with HDMI display as default also as default device as default. It did not make a difference. I also tested it with flatpak version, I have the same issue.
