Broken Google Photos Addon Official Repo (Pranjal Singhal, 2023/05/16) broken?
#1
Bug
On 16 May 2023, Pranjal Sinhal published on the official Kodi repo a long-awaited addon to make Google Photos accessible in Kodi. Upon installation (which proceeds without incidents) a popup window advises users to visit https://www.photos-kodi-addon.onrender.c...tialsguide in order to obtain credential keys.

Using the published https:// prefix the site doesn't open.

Using the http:// prefix, it returns:---
"Error 1016 Ray ID: 7d9a46b792ae38d3 • 2023-06-19 08:07:03 UTC.
You've requested a page on a website (www.photos-kodi-addon.onrender.com) that is on the Cloudflare network. Cloudflare is currently unable to resolve your requested domain (www.photos-kodi-addon.onrender.com)."
(Obviously I am using Cloudfare's public DNS addresses.)

It is no big surprise that Google blocked another effort to bypass Google's locking its platforms to Google tools only. Still, one hopes as long as he breathes. Has the developer, or anyone else, found a way around this Google block?

I am on LibreELEC, the most FOSSy and hackable platform of all Kodi platform. So the problem isn't the limitations od Android/Android TV.
Using skins: customized Xonfluence, Unity, Amber, Estuary.

For some reason on the second try I got past that error, but then found myself looking at the cryptic message

"After you enter the code shown on KODI client, you will be directed to the Google Sign-in Page."

Even though I'm running the GPhotos addon at the same time, there is no code being displayed for me to enter.

What to do? Nothing until someone gets around to documenting their addon properly, it seems!

Is this still broken? If not, I successfully went through the credentials guide except for the part where I need to fill out the App Domain section in the OAuth consent screen. ( I cant move any further according to Google ) The Application home page, and the Application privacy link are in red asterisks after completing the Oauth consent process. I thought I could leave these blank. The credentials guide mentions nothing about it. The only information I could find was that the Application home page is supposed to be my website domain. Which is what?

I'm currently getting an "unable to retrieve list Error 403" on Kodi. Which is what I think is the problem?

Any help appreciated.

I am not a programmer so be gentle.....Smile
